In this talk we will take a look at an idiosyncratic javascript library, htmx, which is designed to make HTML more powerful as a hypermedia. It does this by generalizing the idea of hypermedia controls such as anchor tags and forms. Web developers who use htmx typically do not write nearly as much javascript as they would if they chose a more popular SPA javascript library for their front end needs. In this way, htmx can help address "JavaScript Fatigue", a general sense of being overwhelmed by the JavaScript world.
htmx is sometimes held up as a library "for people who hate JavaScript". Ironically, however, by dramatically reducing the amount of JavaScript a web developer must write to build a web application, htmx can make the JavaScript that a developer wants to write much more enjoyable, making writing JavaScript a playful, high-value and fun part of a broader web application rather than a chore that must be dealt with to accomplish simple tasks.

We'll explore what's new in Nuxt 4, and the architectural decisions we've made to make it 'a better hammer', no matter what kind of project you're facing. I'm aiming for something useful for anyone, even if they don't use Nuxt. So thinking about framework philosophy, and inspiring people with what's under the hood.

Vue was first publicly announced in 2014 and is 10 years old this year! In this talk, we will take a look back together at how it changed and evolved from its humble beginnings, discuss some of the challenges and learnings, and how we think about its future.

I'll dive into the internals of Nuxt to describe how we've built a TypeScript-first framework that is deeply integrated with the user's IDE and type checking setup to offer end-to-end full-stack type safety, hints for layouts, middleware and more, typed runtime configuration options and even typed routing. Plus, I'll highlight what I'm most excited about doing in the days to come and how TypeScript makes that possible not just for us but for any library author.

Solid caught the eye of the frontend community by re-popularizing reactive programming with its compelling use of Signals to render without re-renders. We've seen them adopted in the past year in everything from Preact to Angular. Signals offer a powerful set of primitives that ensure that your UI is in sync with your state independent of components. A universal language for the frontend user interface.
But what about Async? How do we manage to orchestrate data loading and mutation, server rendering, and streaming? Ryan Carniato, creator of SolidJS, takes a look at a different primitive. One that is often misunderstood but is as powerful in its use. Join him as he shows what all the Suspense is about.

There is a cost that many companies don’t consider when using open source. It can cost a lot of money and time to keep upgrading sunsetted versions.Open source is free for companies to use until the author sunsets a version.These are some best practices that we we recommend when considering open source adoption:        - Who is the author? Do they have a strong reputation that is going to be around for a long time? Do they have the resources to support an enterprise library?        - How much online support is there in the community for this library? How many dependencies are on this library?        - Does it have an end of life policy? What’s going to happen when they rev on a version? Will companies have an option to stay on older versions for a long time?        - What should you consider when migrating to a supported framework after a version has been sunsetted?

Starbeam is a library for building reactive data systems that integrate natively with UI frameworks such as React, Vue, Svelte or Ember. In this talk, Yehuda will announce Starbeam. He will cover the motivation for the library, and then get into the details of how Starbeam reactivity works, and most importantly, how you can use it to build reactive libraries today that will work natively in any UI framework. If you're really adventurous, he will also talk about how you could use Starbeam in an existing app using your framework of choice and talk about the benefits of using Starbeam as the state management system in your application.

Domain Specific Languages (DSL) are everywhere in web development, but these languages and their qualities often get taken for granted. HTML, Regex, CSS, and SQL are all DSLs which allow you to simply declare what functionality you want, instead of having to specify all the implementation details.Taking the DSL approach to full-stack web development not only unlocks new abstractions that make building more efficient for the developer, they also assist AI-coding assistants in creating more complex, maintainable code, by handing off the creation and management of large amounts of boilerplate code to the DSL.In this talk we will explore how we built Wasp around a DSL to create a unified approach to developing full-stack web-apps.

Waku is an ongoing project aimed at developing a React framework with first-class support for React Server Components. In this talk, I will provide an overview of Waku and walk you through how you can start developing a new project using Waku.

We often assume that everyone has a good internet connection and hardware with high specifications. While this might be true in some regions, it is not the case worldwide. I want to draw attention to Africa, where many countries struggle with poor 3G connections that are costly, depending on the amount of data consumed. This is due to the continent's limited infrastructure, leading to a reliance on mobile connections. 
Given these circumstances, efficient data usage with a good web performance becomes a priority. So our session will focus on the challenges faced by African users and developers, and how downloading large amounts of JavaScript is exacerbating data consumption and performance issues. We will explore how existing frameworks tried to solve the problem and how Qwik did with its innovative approach to resumability, presents a transformative solution to these challenges. Unlike traditional SPAs, Qwik's resumability drastically reduces the initial JavaScript payload, enabling applications to become interactive more quickly, even on slow connections.

The prevalent advice on how to use React today is to use a framework: either to start with one or to incrementally adopt one. This deep-dive talk will explore why, and how to go about this with live code examples.

Users have come to expect real-time collaboration from best-in-class apps like Notion or Figma. But widely available tools and infrastructure for building multiplayer apps are only just emerging. In this talk, we’ll explore the open-source framework Jazz and the two new ideas powering it: Conflict-free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs) and verifiable permissions. By building a whole app with nothing but React and Jazz, we’ll see how this new approach radically simplifies building not only real-time multiplayer apps, but any kind of app in which users interact.

TypeScript goes beyond annotating syntax. We’ll explore how modern frameworks leverage type-safety at the project-level to empower better architecture, greater stability, and higher velocities.

Google collects performance information from all sessions on opted-in Chrome browsers into its Chrome User Experience Report (CrUX) database. It then uses this information as a ranking factor for its search engine, but it also makes this information publicly available for everyone to view. I used this data to analyze and compare the performance of the leading JavaScript frameworks. In particular, I looked at the likelihood that websites built using each framework will have good Core Web Vitals (CWV) scores. React is so powerful that it can be used for more than frontend development. E.g. creating UI programmatically in the backend using a rule-based system or machine learning is another use case where React can serve as the best fit. Similarly, documentation earlier used to have only .md files but now it also includes .mdx file that contains React code. To fulfill such use cases, developers need to understand the internals of React and the tooling around it. Some great sources are popular codebases such as create-react-app, Next.js, etc. In this talk, I will share the lessons we learnt while creating a framework that achieves more than web development using React. Firstly, I will cover how create-react-app codebase is the best codebase to understand how webpack, babel, eslint, typescript etc. can be used alongside React. Secondly, I will share how Next.js teaches us to create a js framework where we can write backend and frontend in the same file and still be able to separate the two during calls. Thirdly, I will share how our framework supports plugins, i.e. the React code resides in multiple repositories but all of this code can share a single React runtime inside the browser. This is a very advanced use of React that cannot be achieved by code splitting using React.lazy. This talk will enable developers to use React for more than frontend development.

This talk will introduce key components and benchmarks of the stable release of the fully-audited framework. Finally, we will present our award for "2022's most secure modern web-framework" in the context of webview-based Tauri apps.
